Highlights of 1998: Indigo finished her permanent championship and was 3rd place three year old at the National Show. Ariel was shown six times locally and was Best of Breed six times and Best in Show five times All 70 sheep were sold except for pet Polly.
Highlights of 1999: Mary Ann finished her permanent championship and appraised 92 EEEE. Other new permanent champions include Alpines Roxanne, Eileen, Tecoa and Togg Dona. 1999 was the year of the departure of Holly and Image in April, Alice in August and Mr. Majestic in October. I miss all four, but delight in their continuing presence through their fine offspring. All four had a strong positive impact on my herd. Spotlight consignments Alpine, Radical Waive, and Toggenburg, Arena sold for $2200 and $1100 respectively. Thanks very much to those who participated in the bidding.
Highlights of 2000: Indigo was first place five to six year old Alpine with first udder and highest Alpine milk production at the 2000 National Show in Raleigh. She also appraised 92 and was grand of 55 at the Maryland State Fair. Cherry Glen was the premier Alpine herd at the State Fair. My two beautiful two year olds, Alibi and Hope are now permanent grand champions. Hardin finished his championship in May.
Highlights of 2001: Actually this year started with a low light. On March 14 dear beautiful Indigo died of a sudden surprise pasteurella for which we were totally unprepared. On a happier note, Indigo's daughter Radical Gesture, a first freshening two year old, finished her championship at her first show outing and has appraised 92 EEEE. Gesture's score has had to be reduced to 89 EEEE because a first freshening two year old can not appraise over 89. Buck, Aliceander, three year old Meridian and two year old Pascale have become permanent champions. Nineteen of our goats appraised 90 or above this year.
On August 1 at the National Show in Springfield, Mass. GCH Cherry Glen T. Holly's Hope became the 2001 Alpine National Champion! Cherry Glen Aliceander Enjoy was Reserve Junior Champion Alpine. The Alpine premier herd sire was CH Cherry Glen MMM Aliceander. Cherry Glen was selected as the first place Alpine Dairy Herd. 2001 was a very good year for us.
Highlights of 2002: Alpine Mallory finished her championship as did our Togg, Walker Farm Tassel. The National Show is Pueblo was an interesting trip. I found the actual show very confusing and upsetting so I mention it very little. The Junior and Senior Toggs and the Junior Alpines did extremely well. If you get a chance we hope you will watch the videotape of the 2002 Alpine National show even if you were there. At east coast shows Hope was shown 5 times and was Best in Show five times. Finesse, our beautiful dry yearling, was three times best in show. We hope she will continue her good fortune with a good udder comparable to her sister, Faye, who, as a milking yearling was unbeaten.
Highlights of 2003: Hope was Alpine Reserve National Champion with best udder. Two year olds Faye and Finesse who were first and second in their class at the National Show both finished their championships. Three year olds Trilian and Touchee were third and fourth. Touchee is now a finished champion. Patience was Alpine Junior National Champion. Our highest honor of all: we were selected as Premier Breeder and Exhibitor of Alpines at the National Show. Toggenburg, Ariel, who was a ninth freshening nine year old had her ninth and final Best in Show win on September 27 at the Virginia State Fair where she even beat Hope. Ariel died suddenly on October 20, the day of the funeral of my dear friend and mentor Brad Wigle. What a very sad day! Ariel's daughter Dona was first place aged doe at the National Show with Reserve Best Udder. Our Toggs revival still continues despite the death of our Ariel. The three 2003 beautiful new champions: Amelia, Belle and Tillie.
Highlights of 2004: Gesture was Alpine Reserve National Champion with best udder. She looked fabulous, something she is very good at.. Faith/Esquire daughter, Future, was 2004 Alpine Junior National Champion. Her sire, Esquire, was the Alpine Premier Herd Sire. Pasta was first place three year old. In Toggenburgs we had 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the two year old class. Ayla, Airhart and Willow also made up the first place Tristin Get of Sire. CH Little*Creek LCTT Tristin is now a Permanent Champion as is his daughter, Willow. Wayne and I were the Premier Toggenburg Exhibitors at the 2004 National Show. Alpine finishs include bucks Aladdin and Inman (7 Best in Show wins), Trilian and Rishona's three year old daughter, Rivkah.
Highlights of 2005: In August we earned Alpine and Toggenburg Premier Breeder at the Maryland State Fair. Alpine Highlights: Pasta went grand and is now a permanent grand champion. Togg highlights: Three year old Prize was grand; Pat-z was Junior Best Doe in Show. Premier Exhibitor in Alpines and Toggs.
At the Great Frederick Fair in September, Airhart, littermate sister of this year's Toggenburg National Champion was Best Sr. Doe in Show. We didn't take Airhart to the National Show by the way. At the end of September at the Virginia State Fair Alpine Monika was Best Senior Doe in Show, Toggenburg Sr Kid, Talbot, was Best Junior Doe in Show, Best Dairy Herd in Show (Toggenburgs), Best Udder in Show (Alpine-Finesse).
In July Wayne and Cindi Shelley made the big trip across the country to the National Show in Spokane. They started out with 33 goats and sold 4 along the way. It was very hot but fortunately, due to the wonderful care they received all arrived safe and as sound as could be expected after five days of standing and bouncing in a trailer. The goats were let loose (literally) and milked at midday. They were penned and milked at night and in the morning. They arrived in beautiful Coeur d'Alene for a five day recuperation period so that they would be rested and looking good for the National Show. Most of them did end up looking good and most did very well in the show ring. On the way home the same milking routine was followed and the same amount of rest. For some reason the goats looked better when they arrived home than they did when the arrived in Coeur d'Alene. As a matter of fact I was amazed as I watched them jump out of the trailer. I flew by the way. Wayne loved the trip and was particularly enthralled by the beauty of the west which he was seeing for the first time.
In Alpines Cherry Glen Radical Gesture was 2005 Reserve National Senior Champion with reserve udder. 2005 Alpine Junior champion was Finish. Amanda was first place senior kid. We won 2005 Premier Alpine Breeder (our favorite award). We had third place Dairy Herd, second place Get of Sire (Esquire), second (Faith) and fifth (Mallory) place Produce of Dam.
In Toggenburgs Cherry Glen Tristin Ayla was 2005 Senior National Champion with best udder. Twist was Reserve Toggenburg Junior Champion. In Senior dry yearlings we had first (Twist), second (Anya), third (Pat-z) place. Those three took first place in the Best three Junior doe class. We won 2005 Premier Toggenburg Exhibitor. In the two year old milking class we had fifth place (Anna), sixth place (Coretta) and eighth place (Bedazzle), In the three year old class we won first (Ayla), second (Sasha), third (Bridget), fourth (Willow). In the five and six year old class, Cheri was fourth, Amelia fifth. Six year old Cheri took my breath away again this year. Through an oversight I did not enter the Dairy Herd class. We had first place Best Three Senior does, first place Get of Sire (Tristin). Tristin was the 2005 Toggenburg Premier Herd Sire. We also won first place Produce of Dam (Amelia), first and second place Dam and Daughter (Amelia and Corelli). Wayne and I are particularly pleased with the strides we have made with Toggs in the four years since we gave Americanized our Toggs and began our Toggenburg breeding project.
We recently purchased some very exciting Willow Run goats, mostly Alpines, a few Toggs. Mostly Purebred Alpines, a few Americans. Among them Rishona's daughter, Revenge, Phenom, Cassandra, LaMaze, Ramada, Libby, Charday, Romulus.

Sister of Radical Waive, the 1999 Spotlight Sale Doe with a dry leg, Gesture finished her championship first time out as a first freshening two year old. Excellent head, shoulder assembly, front legs, rump. Every once in a while a light comes on. In Gesture's case the light is shining brightly. Her presence makes her stand out so that she seems to belong in a category all her own. Some are awed by her; some seem to feel unable to deal with her; some say they don't like her; quite a few felt that she should have been the 2004 National Champion. Gesture has also proven herself to be a very valuable brood doe producing three EX92EEEE daughters, SGCH Glitter, SG Georgia and SG Garnet and three proven sons, +*B SGCH Gabriel, +*B SGCH Galaxy and +*B SG Gusto, who are themselves producing excellent daughters.

Although Alice died on August 10, 1999 I am leaving lots of information about her on my website because she impacted so heavily on my herd. I currently own six Alice daughters and two Alice sons. Alice was an extremely impressive doe. In addition to being large (195# and 33 1/2 inches at the withers) she was very correct with a deep body, a beautiful wide rump and well attached udder. Her legs were straight and correctly set; she was wide; her pasterns were strong, her toes tight and she was well angulated. Alice was as close to perfect as any doe I have ever seen. At the 1994 National show in Lincoln, Alice was Reserve Champion Alpine! Alice was shown twice in 95 she won the District III Alpine Specialty when she went BOB of 52 at the Maryland Dairy Goat Association Show (MDGA). At the 1995 National Show in Salem, Oregon Alice was first placed aged doe with first udder. 1994 All-American 4 year old. 1995 All-American Aged doe. Alice was shown once locally in 1996 and went Best in Show! At the 1996 National Show she was Reserve National Champion for the second time. 1996 Reserve All-American (to Holly) aged doe. 1997 shown once: BOB. Alice's produce went 2nd at the 1997 National Show. Alice's buck kid, Aliceter, was a 1997 Spotlight Sale Consignment who sold for $2900.(second highest price in the sale) Aliceter's brother, SGCH Aliceander, produced many beautiful daughters here at Cherry Glen and has a 21 daughter LA average of 86. Her yearling milking daughter, Gucci was sold at the 1997 Colorama Sale for $2300 (higest price in the sale) Alice had triplet daughters in 1998. Their names are GCH Alibi (black), Alamo (cou blanc), and Alas (chamoisee). Alice's last two kids, a buck, Aladdin and a doe, Fiesta were born in the spring of 1999. As usual she was bred to Image. There are three grand champion Alice daughters SGCH Indigo, SGCH Mary Ann and SGCH Alibi. Indigo and Mary Ann both linear appraised EX92 EEEE. Alibi as well as daughter Duchess appraised EX90 and daughter SG Alamo Appraised VG89.

Holly died on April 22 of 1999. She also will remain on the website as a reference doe. Holly's Mr. Majestic daughter, Tecoa, finished her championship in 1999 and now resides in Canada. Holly's daughter, Hope, finished in 2000 and was the 2001 Alpine National Champion with Best Udder. One of Holly's champion sons, Hardin, has been 3 times best in show and appraised 91 EEE. Hardin's littermate High Point has also recieved his champion status and appraised 90 EEE. Holly was elegant, long, level with a long lean neck and a beautiful head. Her high wide rear udder, near perfect teats and teat placement, her well extended fore udder and her grace in the show ring all added up to an extremely lovely individual. Holly started and finished her championship in June and early July 1994. In May she went reserve to Alice but Best Udder in Show at the VSDGA show under Dan Considine. At the 1994 National Show Holly was fourth place three year old in a class of 41. She was also 1994 All-American 3 year old. On 5/6/95 Holly went Best Doe in Show, Best Udder in Show and part of the Best Herd in Show at the Upper Choptank 4H Show. She was shown a second time at the Montgomery County Fair where she was GCH BOB, BUOB. At the 1996 National Show Holly was 3rd place 5 year old with 2nd udder. 1996 All-American Aged doe (Alice was reserve)!

Staph mastitis and an uneven udder kept May Ann out of the show ring for all of 1998. In 1999 Mary Ann freshened with an even udder. She started the show season with a Best in Show on May 1st and finished her championship on May 22, 1999. Mary Ann passed away in 2007.

E'tee was definitely an eye catcher. She was tall, elegant and smoothly blended. Her udder had a particularly nice fore udder extension, a very wide "U" shaped escutcheon and a large area of attachment. She finished the 1995 show season with two times Best Doe in Show. E'tee was not shown in 1996. E'tee was Best of Breed at her one 1997 local show. She was 12th place in the 5 year old class at the National Show in 97.

Faith was a large, long and extremely dairy doe. When I close my eyes and try to conjure up a perfectly formed dairy goat I come up with something like Faith as my ideal. I love her long lean neck, her depth of body and her dairy character. She obtained all 3 legs of her championship during August and September of 1997. She was number four in an impressive maternal line of champions.

Although now deceased Image is included here because of his outstanding impact on my herd and because I currently own seven of his daughters. Image resembled his grandfather Sodium Oaks Royal Risk. He was a long bodied upstanding buck who improves general appearance, heads, and rear udders. Image has at least 4 Grand Champion daughters, and at least 5 daughters appraised with Excellent mammaries! One of his daughters milked 21 # on DHI test. He was the sire of our 1995 Spotlight Consignment, Promise. Image daughters: GCH Holly, GCH Indigo, GCH Alibi, Alamo, Alas, Fiesta, in my herd. Image daughter GCH Exemplr Royal Ferina owned by Michelle Trainor bred Ferina to Aladdin to produce 2000 Spotlight Buck who sold for $1700 to Laurie Acton.
Image son: Aladdin.
The 1998 Alpine Performance Summary list Image with 25 daughters averaging final score of 85.
